XI’AN AEROSPACE MUSEUM

Location: Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China

Architect: Duda|Paine Architects

Design for a new Aerospace Museum in Xi’an, capital of the Shaanxi Province in China. Located in the center of the Aerospace Park, the concept for the museum drew inspiration from man’s fascination of the heavens. From a simple glance up to the night sky, to rocket-powered vehicles, the museum takes visitors on a journey through the history of exploration in space. The path begins at the lowest point in the spherical building and an ascending, spiral ramp immerses the visitor in the chronological history of space exploration. Suspended in the center of the museum, a spherical theater and planetarium allows visitor’s to travel beyond the earth into the vastness of space.
